The Question that Motivates my Work
How can we better understand the systems that shape people’s lives, and communicate those insights in ways that support meaningful change?
My mission began in agricultural biotechnology before expanding into food systems, sustainability, health, and community wellbeing. I grew more connected to the people, communities, and systems behind the science.
Today, my purpose is to help organizations better communicate the complex situations they improve and share their work through research and storytelling.
Every Mission Has a Story
Organizations are doing meaningful work every day, often addressing complex challenges that aren’t easy to explain.
Donors, partners, policymakers, and community members rarely see the full picture. They may see outcomes, but not the context. They hear about programs, but not the challenges that made them necessary.
My work combines research and storytelling to uncover that larger narrative and communicate why the work matters.

Research and Storytelling in the Age of AI
AI is an extraordinary tool. It can summarize reports, organize information, identify patterns, and generate drafts faster than any human.
Where AI falls short is understanding why a story matters.
The most meaningful work often requires context, curiosity, human judgment, community perspectives, and an understanding of lived experience.
I use research to understand complex issues and storytelling to help others understand why those issues matter.
Writing and Reflections
Many of my professional interests began as personal questions. My writing explores the interactions among community, culture, health, and everyday life.

Why I Trusted Strangers in Nepal But Not in America
Despite the rocky roads and the risk of landslides, I slept soundly on the bus in Nepal. My home in Lamjung District was a seven-hour bus ride from Kathmandu. I would arrive at the chaotic Gongabu Bus Park in the early morning, call out the name of my village, and within seconds someone would point me toward the right vehicle. I couldn’t read the writing on the bus to confirm the destination, and I never knew when we would actually depart, but I was always confident I would be home before sunset. . .
